Men's Basketball

David Knowles scored
22 points to lead the Sagehens to a 57-52 victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday
night. Pomona-Pitzer held the Kingsmen to just 36% shooting for the game and
held a 35-29 rebounding edge to keep the Sagehens in first place in the
conference.
Kamau
Norman-Terrance hit six three-pointers to lead the Sagehens to a 70-68
victory over Whittier College in Claremont on Wednesday. Trailing by one with 35
seconds remaining, Norman-Terrence was fouled and sent to the line to shoot free
throws. Norman-Terrence hit both free throws, giving Pomona-Pitzer a 69-68 lead;
Chaz Turner added one more point on a free throw to put the final score at
70-68. On Saturday, the 4-1 Sagehens host Cal Lutheran at 7:30 pm.
In front of a standing room only crowd in Ducey Gymnasium on the Claremont
McKenna campus, Pomona-Pitzer came away with a 58-47 victory against their
cross-campus rivals. Senior
Kamau Norman-Terrance
led the Sagehen scoring with 12 points on 5-9 shooting; sophomores
David Knowles and
Chaz Turner added 11 and 10
points respectively. Leading 27-15 at halftime, the Sagehens came out hot in the
second half and were able to give themselves enough of a cushion to withstand a
furious Stag rally. Pomona-Pitzer hit 5-11 of their three point attempts in the
first half, and in the second half shot 54% from the field. On Wednesday, the
Sagehens host Whittier College at 7:30 pm.
The Sagehen's came away with a 73-40 win over visiting Caltech on Wednesday
in a game that was more competitive than the score indicated. Chaz Turner led
all scorers with 15 points, including three for four from beyond the arc.
Shooting only 40% from the field for the game, the Sagehens managed to distance
themselves from the Beavers on the boards, out rebounding Caltech 42-30.
Shooting just 24% from the field, the Sagehens fell to Occidental College on
Saturday, 50-41. Alex Lloyd led the team in scoring with nine points and eight
rebounds. On Wednesday, the Sagehens host Caltech at 7:30 pm.
Tom Hollo scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Alex Lloyd and Chaz
Turner each added 20 points as the Sagehens defeated the Bulldogs of Redlands
96-89 on Wednesday. Pomona-Pitzer was able to keep the high-scoring Redlands
offense in check in the first half, allowing only 31 Bulldog points while
scoring 53 on 79% shooting. In the second half the Bulldogs mounted a comeback
behind 37 three-point attempts, but the lead was too great and the Sagehens came
away with a 1-0 conference record.
Women's Basketball
Overall: 8-8 SCIAC:

Despite holding the Cal Lutheran Regals to just four first half rebounds, the
Sagehens lost to their opponents 79-67. After shooting 61% in the first half
behind a strong shooting performance from
Christina Hwang (13
points on 4-5 shooting from 3-point range), the Hens turned the ball over 30
times, and could not muster enough offense in the second half.
Caroline Crocker led
the Hens in scoring with 13 and grabbed 15 rebounds, guiding them to a 61-53
victory over visiting Whittier College on Thursday.
Alana Casner added 9
points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. On Saturday, the Sagehens host Cal Lutheran
for a 5:00 pm game.
Despite shooting 50% from the field in the second half, and committing less
turnovers than their opponents, the Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball team lost
to the Claremon-Mudd-Scripps Athenas on Saturday night, 74-61.
Alana Casner led the Hens
with 16 points, but the Athenas had four players in double-digits, including
Cory Edgmon's 22 points. On Thursday the Sagehens return home to host Whittier
College at 7:30 pm.
The Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball team notched their first conference win
over a tenacious Caltech team that stayed within striking distance until the
second half. Using a 42-9 run that was the second half, the Sagehens were able
to put the Beavers away. Shelagh Cooley tallied a double-double with 10 points
and 12 rebounds, and Christina Hwang scored 11 points on 4-7 shooting. On
Saturday, the Hens move across the street to take on the Athenas of CMS at 5:00
pm.
After jumping out to a 24-21 halftime lead, the Sagehens shot just 11% from
the field in the second half en route to a 54-38 loss to host Occidental College
on Saturday. Christina Hwang led the team in scoring with 10 points, and Alana
Casner added seven points and 10 rebounds.
Alana Casner scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Caroline Crocker
chipped in with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Sagehens
lost to the University of Redlands 57-50. After trailing 31-17 at the half,
Pomona-Pitzer outscored the Bulldogs 33-26 in the second half, but it was not
enough.
Men's Swimming & Diving

The Sagehens continued to have a successful season with a strong
showing at the CMS Winter Invite. Over the two day competition, the swimmers
racked up over 60 season best times and several lifetime best times. In the team
standings, the men’s team placed 7th out of 12 teams.

the CMS Winter Invite. Over the two day competition, the swimmers racked up over
60 season best times and several lifetime best times. In the team standings, the
