The Men's Basketball team won a much-anticipated rematch with the University
of Redlands Bulldogs on Saturday with a 95-82 victory. Alex Lloyd led all
scorers with 23 points and 15 rebounds, and Tyler Velten added 15 points and 12
rebounds as the Hens took advantage of a cold shooting night for the Bulldogs.
Redlands was 18-72 from beyond the arc, taking just 15 shots from inside the
three-point line. The Sagehens pushed the ball up court and their swarming
defense led to a number of easy baskets, including a few spectacular dunks from
Lloyd. On Wednesday, Pomona-Pitzer takes their 2-0 conference record into Stag
territory for a 7:30 game.
With less than 15 seconds remaining, and the shot clock winding down, David
Knowles sank a three-pointer to seal a 68-62 conference-opening victory over the
visiting Whittier Poets. In a game marked by solid defensive play and sporadic
shooting by both teams, the Sagehens were able to maintain a lead in the second
half on the strength of their rebounding. Tyler Velton led all scorers with 17
points and 9 rebounds, and Alex Lloyd added 11 points and 7 boards. On Saturday

high scoring affair.

round of the Occidental Classic Basketball tournament, 81-62. Mark Erler scored
14 points on 5-8 shooting, including 2-2 from three-point range; David Knowles

the Hens could do little more than watch as Concordia put on a shooting clinic.
For the game, Concordia shot 54% from the field, and 56% from beyond the arc
(10-15 in the second half). Tomorrow the Sagehens take on Vassar College at 5:30
pm.

Golden Eagles home empty-handed. The Hens' swarming defense kept the pressure on
La Sierra, forcing 18 turnovers and giving up only six. A hot-shooting second
half (70%), including 7-11 from three-point range, helped Pomona-Pitzer pull
away. On Friday the Sagehens travel to Occidental to participate in the
Occidental Classic.
