The Daily Hen Sports Update

Softball

Overall: 0-27     SCIAC: 0-18

There were plenty of hits, but errors proved costly once again, as the Hen's lost 4-5 at Oxy on Thursday. Freshman Nina Diaz went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI as the designated player, Glenna Holstein was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a run and Leanne Stein went 2 for 4 with a double and a run.

The final game of the Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps series proved to be the most exciting game of the season. The game featured defensive gems such as Leanne Stein's catch at the back fence, and Erin Kahle's nine innings without an earned run. In the 10th inning, the game  moved into the international tiebreaker (a runner starting on second base), where CMS was able to connect with Kahle's pitching. The Hen's were able to score their run off of an Erin Kahle ground ball single up the middle. Monica Belli lead off the inning with a single. The next batter was unable to bunt her over, but Traci Kutaka came to the plate and Traci pounded a double to right center. The next batter grounded to the pitcher and kept Belli on third with Kutaka on second.
