Football
Overall: 5-3   SCIAC: 3-2

The University of Redlands Bulldogs scored only nine points on Saturday night, but it proved to be too much for the Sagehens to overcome as they could only muster seven.  Despite 235 yards rushing from Jonathan Samples, the offense never got going and could only muster one fourth quarter touchdown, a 1 yard scramble by Quarterback Cody Peterson.  The Bulldogs only scoring came off of two field goals in the second quarter and one in the fourth.  The win brings The University of Redlands to 5-2 on the season (4-0 SCIAC), and drops the Sagehens to 5-3 (3-2 SCIAC). It is the second loss in a row for Pomona-Pitzer, who conclude their season at CMS on Saturday at 1 pm.

Cal Lutheran spoiled the final home game of the season for the Sagehens on Saturday night with a 62 -35 victory.  The Kingsmen forced and capitalized on 6 Pomona-Pitzer turnovers, scoring on 5 of them.  The Sagehens were down 35-7 at halftime, with the only score coming off of a 21 yard run by Jonathan Samples; Samples finished the game with 164 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.  In the second half, the Kingsmen struck first and took a 41-7 lead before the Sagehens' offense started rolling.  The Hens outscored Cal Lutheran 28-27 in the second half.  Next week is a bye week for the football team; they play Redlands the following week.

Jonathan Samples ran all over the University of Chicago on Saturday, as the visiting Sagehens came away with a 38-21 victory.  Samples rushed for 256 yards on 24 carries and four touchdowns, single-handedly outscoring Chicago.  The defense kept the pressure, compiling eight sacks and two interceptions.  Next Saturday, the Football team returns for it's final home game; a 7 pm start time against Cal Lutheran.

Mathis had nine saves on the day, but in the end Cal Lutheran had too many weapons.  The Sagehens take on CMS on Saturday at 1 pm.

The Women's Soccer team lost 2-0 to the Visiting Whittier Poets on Saturday.  Unable to muster much offense, the Hens were forced into a defensive battle.  For about 50 minutes, it proved to be a successful strategy.  Unfortunately, the Poets had other plans, and in the 49th minute, Kelly Orosz knocked one in to put Whittier up for good.  In the 86th minute, they added an insurance goal.  On Wednesday, the Hens look for revenge, and their first conference win when they take on Cal Lutheran.
