| The Hens are back to their winning ways of late, as they have been victorious in 7 of their last 8 contests. The past two weeks have seen the Sagehen Hoopsters start SCIAC play in a dominating fashion, going 4-0 early in conference action.
At Redlands, the Hens were led offensively by frosh Mark Erler and senior Jeremiah Martin. Erler shot 8 of 9 from the floor, including 3 of 3 from beyond the 3-point stripe, to collect 19 points on the evening. Martin collected 18 points as well as bringing down a team-high 5 rebounds for the contest. The team shot a stellar 60 % from the floor and an even better 64 % from 3-point range.
Against La Verne, the Hens did not tip off until 10:30 PM, and still came out playing great basketball. Travis Bray had high point honors for the Hens with 21 in only 24 minutes of action. On the night, Bray went 8 of 11 from the floor, including 3 of 4 from the 3-point arc. Jeremiah Martin also contributed mightily to the cause with a 13 point, 8 rebound performance that lasted until the following morning.
The Hens played to a packed Voelkel Gymnasium against rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps last Saturday night. A different senior led the way on that night, as Dylan Nachand tossed in 18 points, going 5 of 9 from 3 point range, and 6 of 11 overall. Travis Bray collected 13 points and Jason Howie ended up with 10 points and a team high 6 assists on the evening.
The Hens will next face a tough conference foe in Cal Lutheran on the road and then come back home for a game against Whittier.

| Ben Komer and Dusty Baker each recorded season best efforts in their best event in the meet at the University of Redlands. Baker’s 1:59.2 in the 200 yard butterfly is much faster that his mark at this time last season and Ben Komer’s :48.35 100 yard freestyle is the fastest time in the conference to date. The Hens could not match the team depth and balance of the Bulldogs. Coach Gary Troyer noted, “Without divers or distance swimmers, we are not going to win any meets against solid teams like Redlands, but our individual performances and very encouraging.”
During the winter break, the Sagehen squad went 1-4, competing against the University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran, Linfield, Seattle University, Evergreen, and Occidental. The Hens found that victory against the Tigers from Occidental, where Ben Komer won back to back races in the 200 and 50 yard freestyle races. He then came back to win the 100 yard freestyle in the second part of the meet. Matt Mester also won, taking the 200 yard breast stroke in the meet.
This coming weekend, the Sagehens will play host to the Stags from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Diving will begin at 11:00 AM and the swimming will start at noon.

| The Sagehen women’s swimming team defeated Whittier soundly and came up just short against the host Redlands squad last weekend.
Christen Parker came up with wins in both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle races, as well as a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle. Lucia Schmidt won the 200 yard breast stroke as well as the 200 yard individual medley. Lizzy Davis was victorious in the 200 yard butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay team for the Hens was victorious by 3 seconds over the second place finisher.
Like the men’s team, the women traveled north during the winter break to compete against teams from Pacific Lutheran, Linfield, Evergreen, and Seattle. The women also competed at home against Puget Sound and Occidental. The Hen women went 3-1 on the road during that trip, falling only to Seattle University.
The Sagehen women will host the rival Athenas from across the street this weekend with diving beginning at 11:00 and swimming starting up at noon.
