The men's basketball team (13-12, 10-4) finished up their season on the night of the 22nd with a 69-58 home victory over the visiting Whittier Poets. The game was the last in a Sagehen uniform for Dylan Nachand, Jason Howie, Ryan Williams, Jeremiah Martin, Travis Bray, Tad DeWald, and Mike Taylor. Senior Dylan Nachand went out with a bang as he tallied 24 points on the night on 8 of 15 shooting, including 7 of 13 from beyond the 3 point arc. Travis Bray contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds on
the evening. Mark Erler chipped in with 8 points and 7 boards and Jason Howie had 7 points of his own. A tough Sagehen defense held the opponent to 32 % shooting on the night.
The Hens traveled to Occidental on the 19th and came away with a victory over the host Tigers. Travis Bray sparked the offensive attack with his 20 point performance. Bray shot 50 % from the floor, including 3 of 5 from beyond the 3 point arc. Jeremiah Martin was next in line for the Hens, as he contributed 14 points of his own to go along with his 5 rebounds on the evening. Dylan Nachand tallied 9 points and dished out 3 assists on the night and Ryan Williams scored 7 points and pulled down 8 boards. The Hens shot 45 % from the floor, while holding Occidental to just 34 %. The Hens also had a great night from the free throw line, making 18 out of 19.

| The women's basketball team (13-12, 7-5) wrapped up their season on the night of the 21st with a 70-53 home win over the Bulldogs of Redlands. The game marked the final game for seniors Sojourner Howe, Maya Jones, and Meghan Gould. Each of the 3 seniors had game-highs in 3 different statistical categories. Howe had a game-high 22 points on 8 of 18 shooting. Jones had a game-high 9 rebounds on the night to go with her 15 points. Meghan Gould dished out a game-high 6 assists on the evening as well as scoring 9 points of her own. Lindsay Hill also had a big night as well with 10 points and 8 boards.
The Hens played at La Verne on the night of the 19th and upended the host squad by a score of 53-50. Sojourner Howe, Meghan Gould, and Maya Jones all scored in double figures for the Hens. Howe led the way with her 17 point performance, while Jones and Gould each added 10. Jones also had a monster night on the boards, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds. Jamie Guenthoer had a solid night on the boards as well as she came off the bench to grab 10 boards of her own, as well as dishing out a game-high 7 assists on the night. Like the Sagehen men, the women also had a stellar night from the charity stripe, downing 16 of 18 free throws.

| The women's softball team (1-10, 0-4) traveled to La Verne on the 2nd of March and came up short to the host Leos by the score of 10-0. The Hens managed just one hit on the afternoon, that by Meghan
Edouarde.
The Hens hosted rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on the 23rd and fell by a score of 11-1. Sharon Silveira produced the lone RBI on the day for Hens as she went 1 for 3 on the day with a double. Catcher Alicia Juskewycz threw out 2 runners during the game. Juskewycz also got a hit on the day
as well as a stolen base.
The Hens hosted a double header on the 21st and came away with two tough losses to visiting Hope International. Game 1 saw the visiting squad win by the score of 3-1. Ashley Thompson was the best hitter on the day as she went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, scoring Alicia Juskewycz. Shannon Russell pitched a complete game for the Hens, allowing 3 runs and striking out 3 as well. In the second game of the day, the Sagehens fell by the score of 2-0. Sharon Silveira went 3 for 4 on the day for the Hens. Jessie Coe pitched the complete game for the Hens, striking out 2 batters. The Hens produced 7 hits for the game, two more than the visiting squad.
The Hens next play host to La Verne on the 3rd of March.

| The women's tennis team (3-1, 3-0) defeated Cal Lutheran on the 3rd by the score of 9-0. The Hens swept all 3 doubles matches by scores of 8-3, 8-1, and 8-6. The defending national championship doubles duo of Sheree Schwartz and Meghan Gould was back in action at #1, as Gould just
finished up with the basketball season. In singles action, nobody dropped a set as the Hens cruised to the final 9-0 victory. Schwartz won at the #1 position by with scores of 6-1, 6-3. Betsy Mork won at #2, Kelli Howard at #3, Gould at the 4 spot, Whitney
Henderson at #5, and Chelsea Hellerat #6.
The Hens went up against Occidental on the 21st and came away with an 8-1 win on the road, staying undefeated in early season SCIAC play. The Hens swept the doubles matches with scores of 8-1 at number one, 8-4 at number 2, and 8-2 at number 3. The momentum would stay with the Hens as they came out and won 5 of the 6 singles matches to clinch the victory. Sheree Schwartz was a winner at # 1 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Other straight set winners for the Hens were Kelli Howard at #3, Chelsea
Heller at #4, Whitney Henderson at #5, and Vicki Chen at the 6th spot.

| The men's tennis squad (4-1, 3-1) hosted Rochester on the 5th for their first non-conference match of the year and squeaked out a 4-3 victory over the visiting Yellowjackets. The Hens stormed out to a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches required to win the doubles point. Dave Fern and Samir Vora won 8-3 at #1, and the #2 team of J.R. Hall and Mike Benaroya won 8-2. The Hens split the 6 singles matches in order to win the match 4-3. J.R. Hall won convincingly at the #2 spot, 6-1, 6-2.
Mike Benaroya and Jamie Frank won at #’s 5 & 6, respectively. Benaroya won 6-4, 6-2, and Frank won in straight sets also by the score of 6-1, 6-4.
The Hens competed against Occidental at home on the 2nd and against Cal Lutheran away on the 3rd. Both matches were won by the Hens by the same score, 7-0. Since losing to Redlands in the opening match of the season, the Sagehen team has not dropped an individual match in the last 3 team dual matches. Against Occidental, the Hens won the doubles point by sweeping all 3 doubles matches. At #1, the tandem of Dave Fern and Samir Vora came back from being down a break to win 8-4. Fern came back to play a tough match in singles at the #1 spot, winning 7-5 in the 3rd set of his match. J.R. Hall won at the #2 spot, 7-5, 6-3. Samir Vora had a close first set at #3, 6-4, but finished the match strong with a 6-2 second set. Sam Gaines, Mike Benaroya, and Chris Croxton all won easily at #’s
4,5, and 6.
On the 3rd, the Hens traveled to Cal Lutheran to take on the Kingsmen and again won by the score of 7-0. None of the matches were contested as the Hens did not drop a set in any of the 9 matches. In doubles, the Hens dropped just 3 total games in the three matches. In singles action, sophomore Mike Benaroya did not drop a game at the #5 spot in the line-up.
The Sagehens evened their record with a road win at Whittier College on the 23rd. The Hens did not drop a set in their 7-0 victory. J.R. Hall was victorious at the #1 position, Samir Vora at #2, Sam Gaines at #3, Mike Benaroya at #4, Jamie Frank at #5, and Chris Croxton at the 6th slot. Frank and Croxton both produced 6-0, 6-0 scores on the day. Hall teamed with Benaroya for an 8-4 triumph at #1 doubles, Gaines and Frank got the victory at #2, and Croxton teamed with senior Aaron Johnson for
an 8-0 win at #3 doubles.
The Hens have a very busy week as they are scheduled to compete on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

| The men's baseball squad (8-2, 5-0) hosted Occidental for a double header on the afternoon of the 3rd and the Hens were able to stay unbeaten in the SCIAC as they swept two more games from the visiting Tigers with scores of 6-1, and 19-0. In game 1, Jose Cortez had a big day from the plate, going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and a run scored. Those 3 RBI’s came in one at bat in the 5th as Cortez hit his 3rd home run of the young season. Bobby Boeche also produced from the plate, as he tallied 2 hits, 2 runs, an
RBI, and a stolen base. Pitching a complete game, Adam Gardner got the win for the Sagehens. Gardner struck out 7 batters in the game. In the 2nd game of the day, the Sagehens picked up right where they left off, but this time would add some more offense to the equation. The Hens set the tone
very early in the game with a 10-run first inning. The inning was highlighted by Jose Cortez’ two run home run and by Rob Ruiz’ two doubles, which brought 4 Hens to the plate in the inning. Alex Siele would add a two run home run in the 3rd inning, and Cortez would add hit his 5th of the season,
a three run shot, in the 8th inning. Two Sagehen pitchers combined for the shutout on the day. Spike Einsiedler started the game and pitched the first 6 innings, scattering 6 hits, and striking out 4. Mike Renery came in to finish the job going the final 3 innings, giving up just 2 hits, and striking out 4 as well.
The Hens stayed undefeated in conference play with a 17-3 road win against Occidental on the 2nd . The score was tied 2-2 after 3 innings before the Hens went on a tear, tallying 15 runs in the final 6 innings of play. Matt Rager continued his early season production, going 3 for 5 with a home run, 5 RBI’s, and 2 runs scored. Luke Smude also collected 3 hits on the day, with 2 doubles, 3 RBI’s, and 3 runs scored. Alex Siele and Bobby Boeche each hit a home run on the afternoon as well. Boeche also
had a double to go along with his roundtripper, along with 2 other base hits. Spike Einsiedler and Rob Ruiz were the other Hens with multiple hits on the day. Sonny Mott got the win for the Hens.
The Hens played host to the Bulldogs of Redlands on the 26th and won their second SCIAC game in a row to start conference play with a bang. The Hens waited until the 6th inning to start their scoring, but they did plenty of it as a 6-0 lead for Redlands going into the bottom half of the 6th inning was quickly turned into 9-6 lead for the Hens going into the top of the 7th. T.J. Fechser’s grand slam was the highlight of that inning, and it came in his second at bat of the inning. Alan Flores had a huge day at the
plate as well, as he went 5 for 6 with a double, an RBI, and 3 runs scored. Luke Smude went 3 for 4 on the day with 2 runs and 2 walks. Rob Ruiz added 2 hits for the Hens, including a home run. Spike Einsiedler pitched a complete game for the Hens, striking out 8 and allowing 5 earned runs. The Hens outhit the Bulldogs 20-11 on the afternoon.
The Sagehens opened up SCIAC play on Saturday with a 10-7 road win at Redlands. The Hens outhit the Bulldogs 16-6 on the afternoon. The Sagehens let a 7-3 lead slip away in the 6th inning but tallied a run in the 8th and 2 more in the 9th to close the deal on their first SCIAC victory of the year. Luke Smude went 3 for 5 on the day with an RBI as well as crossing the plate 2 times. Jose Cortez went 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, and a sacrifice. Cortez also scored 3 times. Matt Rager also had a great day at the plate as he collected 3 hits, 2 of them doubles, with 2 RBI’s, and a run. Nick Bulaich also had 3 hits on the day for the Hens. Sonny Mott got the win in relief for the Hens, going 3.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, and
striking out 2. Mott replaced starter Sean Gilbert, who pitched 5.1 innings for the Hens.
The Hens are back in action this weekend, as they host games in the California Classic.

The women's track & field (1-1, 1-1) team hosted a four-team meet on the 3rd where they were victorious over Whittier (88-54) and where they fell to Cal Lutheran (67-86). First place finishes for Hens came from Laura Bishop in the 800 (2.27.08), 1500 (5.07.54), and 3000 (11.03.24), Sara Hastings in the 100 (13.51), Samantha Hauff in the Javelin (103-5), Jeaneen Chapman in the Hammer (139-6), and Hastings again in the Pole Vault (9.0).

The men's track & field (2-0, 2-0) team hosted a four-team meet on the 3rd and were victorious over both Whittier (114-49) and Cal Lutheran (100-63). First place finishes for the Hens came from Jonathan Samples in the 200 (23.02), Adam Boardman in the 3000 Steeplechase (9.46.28), Boardman in the 5000 (16.01.26), Ephraim Ross in the High Jump (6-2.75), David Allen in the Pole Vault (14.0), Dan Wire in the Javelin (185-9), and Ari Polychronopolous in the Hammer (160-1).

| The women's water polo team (1-2, 0-0) played 3 games over the weekend of the 3rd , beating Cal State San Bernardino (7-4), and falling to Michigan State (5-7) and Loyola Marymount (3-15). Against CSUB, Sasha Moustakas, Lindsay Norcott, and Blair Henderson each had two goals for the Hens. Henderson also had 2 steals and 3 assists for the game. In the game versus Michigan State, Moustakas again
had a large contribution, scoring 2 of the Hens’ 5 goals on the day. Morgan Sokolow had 3 steals for the Sagehens, as well as an assist.
On the 4th, the Hens faced a tough foe in Loyola Marymount. Moustakas, Norcott, and Henderson were responsible for the 3 Hen goals in the game. Henderson came up with 5 steals in the game. Loyola Marymount came into the game ranked 8th in the nation in Division I.

| The men's golf squad competed in La Jolla at the 51st annual SoCal Intercollegiate Golf Championships, and came away in 11th place out of 17 teams, with a two day total of 645. Luc Shuster was the top Sagehen, as he shot a 79 on the first day, followed by a 74 on day two. That total put him in a tie for 10th place individually, nine shots back of the top golfer from San Diego State. Sagehen Joe Gill shot back to
back 80’s to land in 45th place and Ben Hock Stein was 5 shots off Gill in 60th place. U.C. San Diego won the even with a two day total of 606. La Verne was the top SCIAC school with a 615, good enough for third place in the event.
The Hens fell short to the Leopards from La Verne on the 22nd by the score of 314-332. Joe Gill and R.G. Manalac were the top performers
for the Hens with scores of 80 and 81, respectively.
The Hens will be back in action on the 12th in the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen Invitational.
