Dave Longyear enters his first year as the interim Head Men's Cross Country and Track Field Coach. Prior to taking over the men's programs, Longyear served as the assistant coach for the women's volleyball program for eight years. He has served as coach of the Ayala High School Girls Volleyball team for
four years, and the Claremont High School Boys Volleyball team
for two years.
As an athlete, Longyear excelled in
many sports, racking up the Most Improved award in J.V.
Basketball (1991) while at Occidental, as well as a "AAA" rating from the California
Beach Volleyball Association. He was an All-SCIAC selection in Track & Field,
and was a member of the 1990 Occidental Cross Country team that finished in
5th place at Nationals.
Longyear holds an advanced Degree in Exercise Science as well as a
Masters in Teacher Education. He resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his lovely wife Alicia and black lab, Camby. |
