Since
1898, Pomona College has fielded an intercollegiate tennis team. Since
that time, The Program has produced 66 All-SCIAC selections, 22 All-Americans, four conference championships, and three conference Players of the Year. The Sagehens have finished among the
top 30 teams in the country 15 out of the past 20 years, advancing to
the semifinals of the NCAA National Championships in 1992.
Annually
competing against the strongest Division III programs in the country, as
well as other Division II and NAIA programs, the Sagehens have
successfully blended elite athletics and academics for 109 years. This
past season, the Sagehens competed against six of the top ten nationally
ranked teams as well as others in the top 25.
The foundation of the Sagehen
Tennis Program is built upon trust, commitment, passion, and cohesion.
Our student-athletes hail from all corners of the world and bring with
them a wealth of experiences and talents that enrich our tennis culture.
Our student's time is valuable, and our practices are structured to
efficiently maximize their abilities.
We will become national champions. But first, we must possess the qualities of
champions before claiming such a title. Whether on the
tennis court, in the classroom, or during extra-curricular
activities, our student-athletes make their journey towards becoming national
champions. The benefits of a cohesive team environment are not
limited to the team. Individual success and development are central to
the Pomona-Pitzer Tennis Culture,
resulting in a program that perpetuates passion and leadership from all
directions. The desire and motivation for success are cultivated by the
player, the team, and The Program. |
