Pomona-Pitzer sophomore Alicia Freese earned an individual berth to the 2007 NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships Saturday. Finishing sixth in the West Region race at McIver Park in Estacada, OR, Freese becomes the 13th women's national qualifier in Pomona-Pitzer history. The National meet will be held Sat., Nov. 17 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
Under surprisingly clear skies after threatening rain the day before, Freese
got out well in the field of 114 runners and ran the entire race in the
top-10. With defending national champion Sarah Zerzan of Willamette pushing
the pace, Freese finished sixth in a personal best 21:59 -- the fastest
6000m time in Pomona-Pitzer history.
