11/11/00 Division III West Regionals 7th
of 13 Teams
Senior Adam Boardman
qualified to the NCAA Division III National championship by placing 2nd in the
West Regional meet Saturday at Prado Park in Chino. Boardman clocked 26:18.2
over the 8000m (5 mile) course to qualify for his second cross country national
meet. He earned All America honors last year at Nationals after placing 35th.
This year's National meet is this Saturday hosted by Whitworth College in
Spokane, Washington. The race will be run at Wandermere Golf Course.
Pomona-Pitzer's men's team placed 7th out of 13 teams. Behind Boardman for the Sagehens were John Singleton (29th, 27:41), Paul Miser (41st, 28:20), Matt Franck (43rd, 28:26), and Eric Morse (66th, 29:25).

11/11/00 Division III West Regionals 10 of 14 Teams
Pomona-Pitzer's women's cross country team finished
10th out of 14 teams Saturday at the NCAA Division III West Regional meet
hosted by Pomona-Pitzer at Prado Park in Chino.
Laura Bishop led the Sagehens as she has all season, but the sophomore didn't place as high as she had wanted. After running in 2nd most of the race, Bishop collapsed 50 meters from the finish line, struggled to get up and continue, and crossed the line in 28th place in 19:40. Behind Bishop for Pomona-Pitzer were Heather Callahan (50th, 20:30), Susie Roley (54th, 20:42), Stefanie McDougall (55th, 20:46), and Sarah Takahashi (71st, 21:40).

The Pomona-Pitzer Water Polo team
brought their season to a close with a fourth place finish in the SCIAC
Tournament held at La Verne. On
Saturday, the first round game win over Occidental put the Sagehens into the
semifinals for a matchup with top seeded Redlands. Pomona-Pitzer fell behind the Bulldogs early but managed to close
the gap late in the contest and lost 11-7.
On Sunday, the Hens battled with Whittier down to the wire but came up
just short, losing 8-6. The leading
scorers for Pomona-Pitzer were seniors Marc Cavagnolo and Ryan Williams. La Verne defeated Redlands for the SCIAC
title in the championship game.

With many swimmers finishing the
water polo season, a small number of swimmers still took to the pool for the
Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. Only three
men participated in the meet. Austin
Anderson placed 8th in the 200 Individual Medley, 6th in
the 100 Breast Stroke, and 5th in the 200 Breast Stroke. J.R. Killigrew placed 14th in 50
yard Freestyle and 5th in the 100 yard Freestyle. Matt Mester placed 5th in the 100
yard Breast Stroke and 7th in the 200 yard Breast Stroke.
The men’s swim/dive team will next
compete at Caltech this Saturday at 11:00.
WOMEN’S
SWIMMING/DIVING Overall: 1-0 SCIAC:

11/11/00 Pomona-Pitzer Invitational 3rd of 10 teams
The Sagehens fared quite well at the
Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. Christen
Parker won the 500 yard Freestyle by 7 seconds over the second place finisher
in a time of 5.18.85. Parker also won
the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 2.00.36.
Kate Bollinger won the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4.53.62 and
finished 3rd in the 200 yard Butterfly. Lizzy Davis also performed well, earning 5th place in
the 200 yard Individual Medley and 3rd place in the 100 yard
Butterfly. In the diving portion of the
meet, Anne Baptiste placed 3rd in the 1 meter competition with a
score of 178.9, and she placed 4th in the 3 meter competition with
179.25.
The Sagehens will next compete at
Caltech on Saturday at 11:00.
