            11/18/00            Win       PP d. Caltech, 115-101

Pomona-Pitzer got away from Caltech with a win in an early season meet that was too close for comfort.  The Beavers of Caltech were ahead until the last two events when the breaststroke duo of Matt Mester and Austin Anderson swept the event and the freestyle relay of Marc Cavagnolo, J.R. Killigrew, Eric Kort, and Justin Harmier cruised to an easy win.  Additional event winners for the Hens included Anderson in the individual medley, Cavagnolo in the 200 and 200 free, Benjamin Blum in the 100 back and the medley relay of Blum, Mester, Dusty Baker, and Tom Krebs.  All nine men at the meet placed first in an individual event or a relay.

Coach Gary Troyer noted, “We are currently without an entry in the diving events and will be forced to give up a lot of points to teams with any divers.  We will be a little stronger with the addition of several more men by the next meet, but the diving thing will haunt us all season.”

The men’s swim team will next compete at the Speedo Cup during the weekend of November 30th.
