The Sagehen Women’s Tennis team has been one of the most outstanding NCAA Division III programs throughout the past two decades. Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Tennis represents student-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the court. We are proud of the number of Academic All-Americans as well as the NCAA National Champions and All-Americans that the Sagehen tennis program has produced. Our philosophy is to develop each player’s potential as a player, student, and person. Our program supports the philosophy of strong academic study and performance, while maximizing one’s talents and abilities as an athlete and person. Sagehen tennis epitomizes the development of the whole person in a team setting, while providing the student-athlete all the necessary tools for personal and team success. A strong practice regiment and competitive schedule coupled with great tennis facilities, ideal tennis weather, and wonderful team comaraderie make Sagehen women’s tennis one of the best programs in the nation.

10/13/07 – Sagehens Siobhan Finicane and Olivia Muesse win the D-III National Doubles Title at the Small College Championships. Finicane is also a finalist in the D-III Singles Tournament.
10/01/07 – Pomona-Pitzer players sweep the 2007 ITA/Wilson Fall West Region Tournament, with sophomore Siobhan Finicane taking both the singles title and the doubles title with her partner, sophomore Olivia Muesse. Both become All-Americans, Muesse for the first time. They will travel Oct 11-14 to Mobile, AL to compete in the ITA National Small College Fall Championships against the other seven top players and doubles teams from different regions across the country.
05/22/07 – Sagehen #1 Doubles combination Siobhan Finicane and Becca Lange finish 3rd in the Individual NCAA D-III National Doubles Championship, falling to Amherst. Lange becomes a 2nd-time All-American, this season in doubles, while Finicane becomes an All-American in both singles and doubles.
05/21/07 – Freshman standout Siobhan Finicane takes 3rd place in the Individual NCAA D-III National Singles Championship. After a successful run, she falls in the semi-finals to Liz Bondi of Depauw, who goes on to win.
05/20/07 – Freshman Siobhan Finicane is awarded National and Regional ITA Rookie of the Year, and sophomore Becca Lange is made ITA Player to Watch for the West Region.
05/6/07 – Pomona-Pitzer prevails 5-4 against CMS during the NCAA D-III National Championship Round of 16, concluding the third thrilling head-to-head of the season for the two teams. The Sagehens will advance to the Final 8 of the National Championship, held at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. |
